First question, how do you get a dog from Wal-Mart??

Some dogs depending on the Breed have such a high prey drive that it is almost impossible to change. Do you have a pic of your dog, could maybe get a better idea of his breed.

I have Free-Range chickens, and I have two Dogs, a Bloodhound/Lab mix ,and a St. Bernard. The dogs have a fenced in yard, but that dosent keep the chickens out. so I have had to work very hard with my dogs to get them to not hurt the chickens, especailly the bloodhound/Lab, he has always been quite interested in the birds, and has chased quite a few down. I work with them on the leash, and walk them near the birds,a nd when they act like they want to get the birds, i correct them, and give a stern no. It takes time, but unfortunately most things like this do. Same thing with the cat! you must make the dog understand, that the ca is yours, and uit is not acceptable to chase after. My cats an dogs get along fabulously, and most of the time, sleep together.

disipline him, or just make him stay away from the chickens and cats, like put him in a cage, or put the chikis in a place where he cant get em

old farmer trick was tie the dead carcass around the dogs neck and leave it for a day or so. seems they get sick of smell and makes them think twice next time?? or put a shock collar on him and buzz him when he misbehaves?

firstly I must say I am shocked and rather disturbed that where you are Wal Mart sells pups. Wal Marts where I am are reducing sales of animals (they only sold fish and hamsters) but public outrage has forced them to reduce this.anyhow so that is reason #1 why the dog is a problem, NEVER NEVER buy pups from pet stores, or obviously Wal Marts.what breed?? some breeds were bred for hunting (terriers) some breeds were bred for herding (Border Collies, sheep dogs, etc) if your dog is of either breeds there is not much you can do becuase you are fighting the dogs nature.has your dog been to Obedience lessons?? if not do this - a dog who chases animals is usually bored and looking for something to do. Obedience lessons will help stimulate his mind.spread the word to others - NEVER NEVER buy from a pet store, or Wal Mart. I am still in shock.

He's got the taste of blood now and it will be very diffucult to stop. You should have worked with him while he was younger. You are up against the wall cause this is instinct and not a learned behavior. You will have to provide a safe place for the chickens and cats so that the dog cannot get to them. I have my yard divided into compounds for that very reason.I have a friend who is trying to protect her chickens from a Cougar. So your problems could be worse. Count your blessings.

Most likely the poster purchased the puppy from someone in front of walmart. I know a few walmarts that people just flock to when they have puppies they dont want, and they just park their truck and sell their puppies.
Walmart does not sell puppies.
