mild mannered, well trained, but is very possessive.? We would like to adopt a 8 week old schnoodle puppy. Would there be a problem with the older dog being aggressive or mean to the puppy?
Probably, so you would have to keep them separated for a while, until the schnoodle puppy is old enough to fend for himself. I say himself because your schnoodle will most likely never accept another female in the house, but will learn to deal with a male. Is your female fixed? That usually helps, or at least curbs her possessiveness.
I had a problem like this my yorkie. We brought in a male puppy - she hated him for about 2 days and then accepted him. I am not sure if there is any way to know positively what will happen, but it is important to socialize your dogs with other animals! Perhaps your vet could advise? Good luck.
