There are trainers who can train any animal to do anything! However, in my experience small dogs are harder to train than large dogs. If you can train a small dog to go to the bathroom (quaint way of saying it eh!) in a certain area of your back yard, then you should be able to train the dog to use a litter.

No. Take him outside and let him walk around.

Your best bet is to train it to never poop in the house, I would recommend crate training.A friend of mine tried to train her dachshund pup to go in a litter box...didn't work...to this day her 4 year old dachshund has no clue where to go to the bathroom, so she just goes wherever she wants. I have 2 doxies and they are both crate trained.

I have never actually heard of any dog useing a litter box. What's wrong with newspaper if you can't let it outside to use the bathroom?! Don't hurt your dogs pride with this question!! It's a cats world to use the litter box dear!!
