home? have any of you trained your dogs to poop/pee on pads while you were gone and then go outside when you are home? Or is that too confusing for a dog?I want to leave my dog in my laundry room with his kennel (door open) and a pee/poop pad so he can go to the bathroom there when I'm gone. But I want him to pee/poop outside when I'm home. He currently goes outside when I'm home. This way he won't have to hold it when I'm gone even if it's just for a few hours. He's a maltese/shihtzu just a puppy right now 14 weeks.

leave the laundry door room shut when you are home so the dog cannot access the pad- and you should be okay.
