Dog won't stop peeing on floor! Help us both..! Hello all, I'm new to the forum, and I'd just like to say thanks to everyone that's contributed so far...I've already found a ton of useful info.
Now, what brought me here in the first place is my 2 year old *trained* beagle-mix dog.
In the last two months, he's peed on the floor pretty much every other day. I've previously lived in an apartment with carpet, and he had an accident a few times a month at most..and it was right after we got him.
I adopted him about 9 months ago, he's been through obedience training, is completely potty trained (was basically potty trained when I adopted him, and we continued once he was with us). I've since moved, and there's no more carpet..only hard wood floors.
I'm so fed up at this point, I don't know what to do. When he pees, it's clearly not him marking anything...it's in the corner, or right in the middle of the floor. I've caught him in the act and said "NO" and put him in the corner and ignored him. He knows to go by the door if he needs to go outside, which he usually does.
At this point, I've been limiting his water intake, and taking him out right before bed (which isn't usually a problem...except for tonight...he just peed everywhere...right in front of my roommate).
Basically, if he has *any* pee in him, and I'm not home, he will pee on the floor. Lately, it's become more frequent, and he's now peeing right in front of us. We live in an apartment building, and it's impossible to drag him outside during/right after.
A cage is not possible because we've never used one (because we never had to), and he just barks incessantly when in it. I just cannot leave with him barking for 8 hours straight if I'm not home.
I'm so frustrated at this point, and it's ruining our dog-owner relationship. Any advice would be appreciated, frankly.
Thanks in advance. |
