Hope this Works!! When you take her outside, take her directly to the "Potty Spot" and say "Go Potty" or another phrase of your choice. Pick one and stick with it. Be sure to emphasize it when she does go in that spot. When she goes after or while you are saying your phrase, reward her. Just say "Good Girl!!" or the likes (My aunt's pomeranian loved cheerios as a treat...she just said "Go Potty" and when he did it, he got a cheerio) Once she has gone, take her directly back inside, just away from anything she can associate with her "Potty Spot". Also keep in mind that she probably won't want to go in the specific spot you lead or set her down upon. Give her an area in which to sniff around, and "hunt" for the perfect spot. It helps to give her a distinct area, so that she knows good from bad when it comes to going potty. Try picking a spot out back and mulching or even cutting the grass at a (significant!) different length to help her distinguish her boundaries. Eventually you might be able to just open the door and say "Go Potty" and you dog will go automatically to her "spot", and when she's done, will come running back to you. Good Luck, & Hang in There!!! ~Jenna |
