Hold a treat out, physically push his butt to the floor, and tell him to sit. Do this over and over for about a week, he'll learn it on his own after that. Give it a good week or so though.

To put a treat in front of their noses and slowly lift it over their head saying sit as you do this. This is the way I've taught all my dogs

Do not use trhe word sit, Use stay instead. Keep blocking the froward movement of your dog with your hand until he understands.

whack him on the nose with something soft if he doesn't do it and give him a treat if he does. if whacking doesn't work try squirting him in the face with a squirt bottle. make sure he/she knows your trying to get him/her to sit, try puching down on his rear, or just give him a treat whenever he sits.

U tell them "sit" and slightly push there butt down and repeat till you can say"sit" and then they sit down without you pushing there butt down.PS; that's how I trained my dog & she's a great dog!!!!!

i think the most effective way is to push the dos butt down and hold it there and then repeat sit a couple of times sya good girl/boy and give your dog a treat...after awhile remove your hand if your dog is still sitting give him/her a treat also another good way is to hold a treat right above the head, your dog's nosew will follow it causing in to sit repeat the command a couple of times and sya good girl or boy and give it a treat

this is how i taught my doggyFirst get a lot of small yummy dog treats for your pooch. It is best to do this when your doggy is calm. Then u just push is bottom down on the floor in a sitting position, while saying "Sit". Once u do that praise your doggy with treats and talk in a calm and happy tone. Do that several times but stop when your doggy looses interest.
