put them on a leash and make them walk with it on for awhile every day. My mom did that with her dog on eventually he got the hang of it.

take your dog and yourself to a training course. that is the bbest way for both of you and once you learn how to teach your dog, you will be able to teach any others that you might get.

the only way to make the dog walk on a leash properly is to let it get used to it you cant just throw something around its neck and expect it to know what to do.

try using a retractable leash....my dog feels more comfortable on it.....and it avoids getting wrapped up with his legs-this may scare some dogs.

Thats the easy part about training a dog. Clip a leash on its collar. Let it walk around the house dragging it around for awhile. When it gets used to that, pick up the end of the leash and let your dog lead you around for awhile, say good dog a lot and feed it a lot of treats. The trick is to only give it the treats when it is walking with it's head even with your heel. Repeat for a few days. Thats all it takes.

We got our dog walking on the leash with treats... I put her on the leash, and got her to pay attention to me by calling her name and making eye contact and then treating her. I would then wait until she wasn't paying attention and turn saying "lets go" and as soon as she looked at me and responded, I treated. It worked really well. Now she walks on the leash like a champ! Just be careful if your dog starts pulling. Mine did, and I would just stop, ask her to sit, wait a few moments (like 30 seconds) until she would calm down, and then start walking her again. You just have to be sure to make them sit until they are calm! And stop anytime they even start to pull on the leash! Molly and I now go for walks every day and are constantly complemented on her good behavior. If you have problems- Pet Smart has a neat training program and its cheap!

You need to use a short leash at first and tease them with a dog treat and give him one.. then put the treat in front of the dogs nose while on the leash and he will walk straight on the leash.. do that for a while and eventually he will not mind being on the leash..
