it depends....if your trying to teach them to bark...i would go with the dog..but if your trying to teach them to scurry up a tree when frightened stay with the cat on that one. good luck to you

Hard one cause you can teach a dog to fetch, but you can teach a cat to use a human toilet....

well I'm a trainer of both cats and dogs and I would say that dogs are deff. easier to train because dogs r companion animals and they need leadership from someone in their life, so their more willing to do something for u to make u proud of them. Cats on the other hand are more independent,so u have to find what makes them click. Like my one cat annabelle would perfer toys as a reward over treats and she also gets bored easily which means that u have to work harder to hold her attention! My other cat Jack is more motivated by food and he just naturally loves doing tricks, so yea dogs r harder to train but it deff. depends on the specific animal and their personality. Hope this helps! =)

Cats do not really have to be trained. When I got my cat I put her in her litter box, and showed her where her food was. When I got my dog almost a year ago it took a while to train her, I am actually still trying to train her to be out of her crate when I am gone. Cats are independent, and really easy to take care of, but are lacking in the loving, cuddling, excited to see you all the time areas. Whereas dogs are exactly that if you take care of them well.

Train a cat? Thats a laugh!!! I love cats and raised 4 of them to be very old, but I sure never trained them..They are very independent creatures. You HAVE to train a dog or he will be a mess. Cats is my answer.
