Default Help with house training my dog?

I bought a toy poodle off of a friend of mine. She is almost 4 months old. I'm having a hard time getting her trained to use the bathroom on her pad. My friends that I got her off of had her about 3 months. They was hardly ever home so the dog just used the bathroom anywhere. I guess that's why I'm having a hard time with her. I have a male adult poodle in the house also. He sometimes uses her pad. Any good ideas?

Just to add to that other answer keep in mind that puppies LOVE treats. I would only give my puppy a treat when he went potty where he was supposed to go. He would get tons of praise and a treat after going pee or poo outside. If he went inside then we would tell him NO in a low tone and ignore him after that for a little bit. This seems to work like a charm but with a lot of work she will start to figure things out.

My Pom was originally trained to go on pads. The absolute best thing I ever did for her was crate train her. I originally thought it was mean. But for how much they start chewing it was for her own protection also. Whenever you take her out of the crate(they will rarely urinate/poo in their crate since that is where they "live") put her on the pad. Praise her like she just did the best thing on earth when she goes. Also treats help :-) Whenever you see her start to squat put her on the pad. There were many times my dog was just going to lay down and I thought she was going to go. Better safe then sorry! Also confine her to a small area such as one room. As she gets better using the pad she will then think that is her "living area" and won't want to go anywhere but the pad. Eventually give her more and more rooms she is allowed in. My dog is almost 5 and she still sleeps in her crate at night and when we're gone. When she is tuckered out she actually goes to her crate. It is her "safe place" and she enjoys being there.best of lucK!
