How do you train a dog to come when called without having to give treats all

the time? I have a 2 year old Newfoundland, and a fenced in yard.She comes to me when I offer her a treat, but without a treat she ignors me and keeps doing her own thing in the yard. How can I teach her to come without having to give her a treat everytime?

use her favorite toy as a reward instead of food.

Your dog is in charge. Control all resources, train your dog and learn to ignore your dog when she demands something. Once dominance is again on your side call your dog. As soon as she acknowledges hearing you call out YES, in a friendly but firm voice. When she starts towards you say YES again and show her a treat. When she gets there say YES again and give her the treat. In a few days you can only give treat every 3rd time and eventually no treat at all.The key is you have to be the Alpha Dog in your dog's pack.
