Default is there any way to tell before you start training your dog what kinds of

tricks they'll do well with?

Yes, depends what kind of dog you have? Usually larger breeds like Labs, Golden Retrievers etc are very good learners so basically anything! If you got a smaller dog, they tend to have a shorter attention span so teach em tricks in small bursts with treats to keep em keen to learn. Start with the basics, sit, stay, fetch etc, and most dogs can learn ''shake'', 'roll over', 'drop'. If you got a breed like German Shepard then you may want to teach it ''weaving'' where you get poles lined up and then they weave through them one by one. Good Luck!
