he's a 5 month old maltepoo. I have 2 small kids. I just want him to be lie around and chill on my lap but he's so excited all the time when he's around how can I get him to mellow out?should I fix him?

little dogs tend to be hyper. Even if they sit in laps some of the time, they will still be hyper. Because he's part poodle he will stay hyper. My bichon-poo runs, jumps on furniture, plays non stop and she is about six years old. Just enjoy it!
