Well, here's the problem.There are plenty of legitimate hobbies that will cause on to smell of guns and gun powder.As for me, I once worked part-time for a pyrotechnics company. I also enjoy model rocketry. Additionally, I enjoy shooting sports ranging from plinking at the range to hunting. Further, I also have been known to re-load to create custom cartridges.I am in no way a twisted loony (I guess you'll just have to take my word for that one...

). If I happen to take some classes at Virginia Tech (or any other school for that matter) I would be damned put out at having to submit to a rectal exam by the security folks every time I showed up for class because my chosen legitimate hobbies left a trace smell of gunpowder.The bottom line is that no matter how hard one tries, one can't make the world 100% safe. I'm not saying that there should not be common sense basic security measures in place, but patting down everyone that enters some arbitrary facility (in this case a school) is a bit too "police state" for my tastes.
