Ah, cute mix. haha Get him used to it when it's just sitting there, turned off. Associate it with good things. If you really want him to be okay with the vacuum, you need to be dedicated to it though. You can't give up. First, have him on a leash. Bring him over to the closet you keep it in, give him a treat. Open it, give him a treat and praise him. Keep the leash on him because he might get nervous and run away. The best thing to do is to face the issue, not run away from it. Be firm but very gentle, and praise him for sitting there. Bring out the vaccuum and just sit there with him and pet him. Maybe even play with him while its just sitting there. He'll learn to associate seeing the vacuum with your company. Eventually, turn on the vacuum and let it sit there. Keep him company and keep praising him when he is calm. Turn it off after a few seconds. Do these in steps, though. Only when you know he's comfortable with each step you do. It may take a few minutes, it may take weeks. Just do move on to the next step when you know he's ready.Keep doing the exercise until you are finally able to use the vacuum without him being in a panicked state, and he'll be a much, much happier dog. :]Good luck!
