Default Can you a house train a 2 year old dog that has always lived outside?

is it possible to house train a dog that has always lived outside, I might be moving to a apartment only if I can train my dog to use a pad or go outside to pee? So is it to late to train them?

No it is not too late. It may actually be easier if he is a smart dog and you are close to him.

It will be harder but I don't see why not. Dogs are much smarter than we give them credit for. There are books on the subject but you ciould ask an expert on animal rehabilitation/ adaptation (rescue operations, etc.) and they might be able to halp as well.

No you can still train them but you need a special trainer to help you.P.S. you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Yes. Some breeds might be harder then others, but all breeds can still learn at that age

yes you can. put the dogs noise in it and than tell him or her no and put the dog outside. if you can take the dog for walks right after it eats or drinks. and play with the dog and he or she will pee outside and after he or she does tell it how good that was and give it something that he or she don't get everyday. and do that every time he or she goes pee out side.

It takes patience. Just keep a schedule. At first, keep the dog in a room that doesn't have carpet and take the dog out every hour, then every two hours, etc. Once you can go for a few days without accidents, you can see how the dog does on the carpeted areas. I really don't recommend it, but you could also crate your dog while you're gone as long as you don't leave him/her in there more than 8 hours at a time.Is your dog male or female? Females seem to have less trouble potty training than males. (I'm basing this from personal experience, not professional knowledge) If you have a male dog, you might want to look into buying a belly band. I have made some for my little male cockapoo and it has saved my carpets and my temper quite a few times. I used to foster rescue dogs and there were a few males who had to wear the belly bands because they tried to "mark" my sofa.I've added a link to a site that sells them. I don't have any affiliation with them. If you know how to sew, they're super easy to make. Good luck!
