Gigi is a 5 month old chihuahua. I have had numerous chihuahua's over the years. Never had a problem potty training. This girl is different than any dog I have ever had. Wanted to litterbox train her because she won't go out in bad weather or the dark and winter is coming. Won't use litter box no matter what is in it. (Although she seems to think it is very tasty!) She even sometimes tells me when she needs to go out and she will go potty. Then comes in and goes again on carpet.I tried the crate, same thing. She is either taken or let out a lot even in the middle of the night.

It sounds like your puppy is confussed with all the methods. Do one and only one. How much excersise do you give your puppy? You need to take him for a long walk, the right way, two to three times a day to tier him out and also to establish you as leader. Crate training is the best method. Make sure the crate isn't any bigger than needed. They sould lonely be able to stand up and turn around. If to big, it will use one end to potty in and the other to sleep. I live where there is a lot of snow and any dog we have had went in the snow. You have to escort your dog out to the same place each and every time and make sure that he goes before returning inside.
