Default Help, my dog is scratching my door!!

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to stop my 3month old Maremma sheep dog from scratching the outside of my door when she wants to come inside? She has been training really well with everything else but I don't know how to correct a behavior when I'm not there.

If you're worried about her damaging the door can you just put some type of protective panel in the area she scratches? An aluminum plate or something? I know there are kick plates for doors at places like Home Depot or Lowes. Maybe you can have something similar custom made.
Just a thought....

I have the same problem. Shouting "No" makes our dog bark more, as if shouting is me barking back at her.

It's not really a door destruction issue with me, but a major annoyance. The dog needs to learn to sit and be patient.

I know that dogs can learn it, but I'm not sure how.

I am having a similar problem with my yellow lab. He is the most loving pup ever and he follows me everywhere, including the bathroom. If I close the door at the bathroom he whines and cries, jumps and scratches the door. It's a habit I am trying to corrrect. Any tips
