Default Old dog New puppy help needed

I have an 11 year old mini schnauzer that has always been the only dog we have. He is very laid back and not playful at all.(likes to eat and sleep all day) Anyway, I got a mini schnauzer puppy about 2 weeks ago. My old dog is does not like it when the puppy tries to play with him and has been doing a good job at correcting the pup. The problem that I am having at the moment is that my old dog has started "mounting" the pup. They are both male and my old dog has been neutered since he was a pup. I have never seen him mount any other dog in the 11 years I have had him. Should I be concerned? I know it is a dominance issue, but should I try to stop this behavier?

My male was also neutered at 6 months, and he wants to mount every now and then. I just say, Cut it out! and then put him in a down/stay for a few minutes, then treat when released. I am treating the down/stay, and he has gotten the idea.

If it doesn't bother you, let him be, the pup will learn who is boss.

this is just a sign of dominance letting the younger one know who is that alpha of the house and better than the alternative which some dogs do and that is attack the younger one.

yeah i think it's a dominance issue. try to correct the behavior it's better to keep them safe and seeing them play with one another.
