Unhappy dog chewing help

hello, I am new but was hoping maybe someone will have some advice for me.
I have 2 dogs, 1 6yrs and a new one that is now 6 months, the new one is chewing me out of house and home, she has completely destroyed her "sisters" toys and all the new ones we got her. she does chew on stuff she is not supposed to if we ain't looking, she know the difference, if she is chewing on a toy and we walk in the room she does not pay us any mind, but if she has a shoe or sock, she drops it and runs. I know she is teething and I allow her some slack with the toys, but i can't keep any toys for more than a day, we went and spent a lot of money yesterday getting her one of those "KONG" toys that got good reviews for lasting a long time with aggressive chewers.... the handle was gone in 10 minutes and the rest was in shreds by the time i went to bed, just at my wits end, I can't afford to buy her new toys every day, not to mention its not fair her sister now is toy less, any ideas on what might last longer?

Thanks Dave

oh that's terrible to you...but that's natural to a dog whose teething...they chew anything because their teeth change...all I can say is you need more toys for her...but your lack of budget right...that's the problem...

You may want to check with the vet, pup may have another problem. It could also be an attention problem. Is someone home with the dog during the day? Maybe spending more time with her might help. I have a Kong toy for mine, and she does fine. I made sure that I got a toy that didn't have any small parts she could chew into. The one she has now is for extra agressive chewers, it is black in color and is kind of shaped like a bee hive. I would check with the vet, though, to make sure there isn't an underlying dental issue with her. Good luck!

hi,
i know how frustrated you must feel ive just gone through it but it does sound like she is getting board, even when im with mine she is very board and wants to play constantly, in the end i found the best way was to keep her in a large cage mine is around 3 times her size and she loves it, at first she chewed her blanket but that didnt last long, i dont put her in there when shes been naughty its just to sleep and when im not there, she used to chew her food and water bowl i left in there but even that has stopped, and iv found moving anything that she can get hold of off the floor, ie shoes socks e.c.t really worked well too, i went to my local charity shop and got some cheap toys as my buget is tight and now she plays with them and doesnt chew and she is now 8 months.,
dont know if this helps,
good luck.
