Default My old dog hates my new puppy

Hello all i have a pack of dogs (hawk, jack, duke)

Recently my champion male german sheperd became a dad again
his name is (Celo) pronounced (seh lo) means jealous in spanish

well to the topic celo had 4 lil future k9 units and one of the liter i decided to
keep she is a cute female german shepperd pup and i would appreciate it if anyone can give good suggestions for a name for her

well heres where the topic starts my husky mix has alway been the leader of the rest of the pack even tho jack or duke are bigger or stronger and yesterday when the pup was brought home hawk did not like the puppy one bit

i tried the ol towel trick the food trick and nothing would stop hawk from wanting to bite the pup now this behavior is startiling as he never did this for the other pups and now im worried because last night hawk tried to bite the puppy for no good reason i never favor any of my dogs or give special treatment i see them as equals like any good alpha but this really scared me that hawk would want to harm the pup

you can see hawk here
Hello im new ^^

ill post pix of the pup tomorrro or monday

please help
i have never had this problem and i hate that one of my boys would act this way i never hit my dogs but i do use the cold shoulder technique
when they behave bad

please help i want all the dogs to get along
strangley jack or duke showed no intrest or hate for the new pup

First of all, are you certain your male "hates" the puppy, or is he just trying to put her in her place, and teach her good doggy manners? If he's the most dominant dog, he may be viewing it as his job to make her mind her manners and know her place in the "pack".

If you observe your dogs interactions closely, you'll see that one of them is dominant over the other two. And I suspect that the dominant one is Hawk. That's why he's taking the pup in hand, and trying to put her into her proper place. It's how adult dogs teach puppies to be dogs, to inhibit their play biting, and to mind their manners.

I would NOT try forcing him into a submissive posture. This will only confuse the issue, might make him resent the puppy even more, and could get you bitten. Adult dogs are rarely, if ever, submissive to a puppy! Far better to allow the puppy to assume a submissive posture, and make sure he respects her submission.

Of course you can't allow him to injure the puppy. But are you absolutely certain that he's intending to injure? Adult dogs "bite" puppies to discipline them. If he's not drawing blood, or trying to shake her hard enough to snap her neck, he's probably delivering a doggy "spanking", which she probably deserves. Closely monitor what's going on, and intervene only if you think he's really going to hurt her. If he's really just "spanking" her, let him do it. He'll be able to teach her manners better and quicker than you can.

I can't tell if he was describing aggression or just dominance.
