Default Potty Training issues

I just adopted a 7 month old pup that is having some potty training issues. Generally she's pretty good about not going in the house. However there have been times where i'll take her outside to go to the bathroom and she'll sniff around...stare at me...sniff me...sniff the ground. As you can tell this goes on for a good 10-20 minutes sometimes longer and she doesn't go. Then literally 5 minutes after we've gone back into the house she's gone in the house. Does anyone know of any tricks to make the dog go outside? Also what are some signals to let me know that she needs to go out. We just adopted her less than a week ago, but the stress of her going inside is already wearing on me...i want to enjoy being a pet owner so the sooner that we can get this resolved the faster I can enjoy her! Any advice or help would be great! Thanks!

Hi.
I am sure it will get better in time. A big part may just be getting used to a new environment.
To start I would make sure you give lots of praise whenever your dog does go totoilet outside. This will associate the action as something positive.
Also, unfortunately for you I think for the time being you will just have to stay out until all business is done. It may be a nuisance but it is better than a mess in the house. This is the unfortunate reality with young dogs. It will improve quickly though. Also don't get too mad if an accident does happe inside. You don't want to scare the dog.

I hope this helps a little.
