Our 4 year old Chihuahua.. hates our 8 week old Lab

My Chihuahua has always been alone with my boyfriend and I, along with a Black Lab for the first two years of owning this Chihuahua. The black lab died 10 months ago... and we've since moved into a house with a roomate that has a dachshund. The chihuahua and the dachshund got along amazingly right from the start. With the new lab puppy.. total different story. We read other threads on here... and saw that some people were saying that the older dog might be trying to put the smaller dog in its place.. but that is definitely not the case. He won't play with her, won't go near her.. and if the puppy comes near him, he growls and will snap at the puppy if it's longer than 5 seconds or so. We just want them to get along, and have no idea what to do.
