Is my dog peeing or marking?
I am a fairly new dog owner. I have had my 1 1/2 year old female staffordshire terrier (pit bull) since she was a couple months old and now I've have a male mastiff who is a year and 4 months (got him at 9 months). They are both potty trained and sleep in a 6x6 kennel in my room. If they need to go out the female will whine and the male will pace around. The problem is we want to take him out and let him roam around the house with the kids but as soon as he gets out he smells around and pees. I try to stop him when I know he is about to lift his leg but he doesn't stop until he's already done. Is he peeing to pee or "marking" territory? How can I train him or deter him from peeing inside the house. He is a very large dog so its not like I can just pick him up and take him outside since he is so big and slow. Advice please!

It doesn't really matter. If the dog is peeing in the house, consider it a housetraining issue and just go back to remedial housetraining. Whether he's eliminating because he has to, or he's eliminating because he wants to, the training won't be any different.

Training your dog would be the best option you have. There are information and tips you can find in the internet or consult some dog trainer.

Crate and Pee
Anytime your baby's come out of their crates you should . immediately take them outside to pee, or take them on a walk to pee. This has to be consistent every time, until he/she understands

Hope this article helps:
Puppy Housebreaking Tips Pet Articles
House breaking your dog is all about timing to create a desirable routine. Repetition is the key here. For instance, you can bring your puppy outside to potty before he sleeps in the evening. Or when you wake up in the morning, bring your pup immediately outside. The first thing that most puppies dog in the morning is to relieve. Bring your pet to the same location each time and stay with him for a few minutes. Do this again and again and your pet will learn the rules and be trained to do this routine. Throughout the course of his training, close supervision is a must. You need to supervise the actions of your young dog at all times.
