Default What should I do to get him more interested in training

Hello my dog is a rescue mut he was a stray dog when i found him he was sick took him to a vet, feed him and loved him
I never hit him even though i can't seem to paper train him or house train him to pee/poop outside he ruined my carpet i had to throw it and pee'd on my bed
I take him everyday for a walk some days twice we even sometimes run togather on leash off course.
I socialised him with all my friends and i even took him to meet some dogs.
I read alot about obedience training and practiced it with him i don't let him sleep on the bed near me just by my feet i try so hard to housebreak him but he would pee in his create or hold it untill i come back from school to pee in my room even if i took him outside for an hour or more he would poop outside but save the pee for my room i tried to teach him sit stay and come commands but he wont learn a thing he's just not interested in the treats hugs or kisses
I tried alot of treats apples dogs food cooked dark meat and cooked chicken but nothing works
I hold the treat let him smell it then just throw it on the floor away he'll just look at it and stay
Now i live alone and i have to go to college everyday at 7 am till around 3 pm i keep him in his litte room with some food and water and some toys
Once i get home he'll be very happy for 5 mins then back to normal
He wont come to me when i call him
He wont respond to his name and i know that he knows his name and what come means he would come only when he's happy
When i take him on walks he'll walk only in front of me he'll go anywhere i wish as long as i let him walk ahead
He'll run out of the house once i open the door and i'll have to run behind him to catch him
He's around 5 months old thats what the vet told me and i had him for 3 weeks. He's bichon with something mix but i am not sure about that i just figured it out by surfing dog breeds sites looking at pictures .
What can i do to train and live happily with this dog
I tried the NIFIL method but he doesn't care about food at all
I once let him with no food untill 6 pm but he wont even care i felt bad and feed him
I am really stuck now have no idea what to do and i know no one to ask about this

I think your best bet is to hire a trainer or take a training class with your dog. Make sure they use positive training methods. Petsmart offer training programs at a reasonable cost. Here it is about $110 for 8 weeks of training class. Hope this helps!!

You know, I wonder if he still has another health problem that hasn't been diagnosed-- can you afford to get his thyroid checked? It's just a blood test, but since you're in school, I realize your budget must be tight. It would be worth it to find out, though. A low thyroid would make the dog not interested in anything, including food. And it will make a dog seem kind of depressed and unresponsive, even "stupid." If his thyroid is indeed the culprit, then treating the problem with medication should turn him into a completely new dog.
