dog is waking up the house every morning!
Help, we are sleep deprived!
Our 4 year old spoodle (poodle cross cocker spaniels) is adorable but she loves to lick and moves a lot at night. We have therefore found that for all to get good night sleeps, we're best to have her in the kitchen for the night with the doors closed. This arrangement has worked well for now already a few years.
Lately, she has decided to jump on the door, whenever she's awake in the morning (which can be 6am!). She won't stop until someone takes her out. She doesn't do it because she needs to use the yard, but more because she's up and wants to start her day, whether we like it or not. If we ignore the noise she makes when she jumps, she starts barking. Sometimes the jumping will only start if she hears that someone is awake (hearing the shower or toilet run), but then we still need to rush through it to prevent her waking up the rest of the family.
We've tried obstructing the doors with chairs so she couldn't jump onto them but she still manages to make enough noise to wake us up.
We would love to hear any suggestions to improve her behaviour.
