Wink My dog is a licker!

Our gorgeous 4 year old spoodle just loves to lick you clean. Problem is, our visitors don't like it too much.

What could we do to discourage the constant licking?

Thanks for your suggestions.

My dog is a licker too. He'll stop if I make him, but he doesn't want too. Especially morning kisses. I know he is happy and all, but it gets old.

I don't know what the answer is. My Mom's pup is the same way, it's like her mission to lick us for the entire visit..

To stop your doggie from licking people, you should teach him the idea of "NO!" this is done by addressing your dog verbally whenever he licks. You can also prevent your dog from licking by diverting his attention. When he starts to lick, throw a ball for him to fetch.

Hi, My poodle loves to lick too. I trained him to give me kisses and then trained him to stop. When he starts licking people I tell him to kiss them. I just think he's very affectionate so I don't mind it so much.

i have the same problem with my Chi, but she only like one part of the human body.... the nose!!! idk why she has to give that area so much attention, but she does. I did the kisses thing, ill say ,"oh your givin me kisses, good kisses!" then when ive had enough ill just say "no more!" and she stops!

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.
How do you train a dog to give kisses? I like that idea, if it might reduce the licking. She's generally good with the "no" command, but doesn't seem to work with the licking. Might have to persist some more...

We just called Luca licking us "kisses" enough that he knows the word, and now he knows "give kisses" and "no more kisses"
