Unhappy fostering senior minpin that is not housebroken

Hi I took in a min pin female that is 10 years old owner died and son gave away. I suspect some kind of abuse ac cured also. I have a minpin that is 9 and wanted her to have company. I was told she was housebroken and did use peewe pads. NOT SO!!!I have had her for 10 days. She peed on my rugs, missed the pee pads, not used to a crate, pees in the crate. So I started giving treats every time she did her business outside. that was working sometimes. but for some reason every afternoon when my friend comes to take out the dogs she does nothing. She then pees in her crate. Last night she pooped wright next to my dogs bed!!!! I think some how she got resentful because my husband and I had the dogs on the couch with us I had my dog and they were getting messages, maybe she got jealous? Any way I should her the pooped told her no and took her out side. She did nothing,so I put her in the crate. This morning she peed in her crate!!! I took them for a long walk. She pooped that's all after smelling over every thing.!!!!! The good thing about her is that she is so sweet, affectionate, doesn't bark, and is super friendly with people. Do you think I can house break her? I have a schedule for my dog and she faithfully follows it. thanks Rossanne

you need to remind yourself that this dog first is 10 years old and up til recently had a set schedule of her own based on her prior owner. Now after all this time she needs to learn a new schedule. Dogs are routine oriented and in the case of the Miniature Pinscher, though a difficult breed in general to house train, with patience (a lot of) she can be house broken to a fair degree but needs time to adjust to a new home, new life and new routine. It is up to you to get her use to a new routine by showing her the patience she needs. As for crate training, I took in a 10 year old nearly 7 years ago that had never been in a crate. Within a week she took to it and has never to this day had a problem.
How long are you leaving the dog in the crate, ie: during the day and at night?
Be reminded, this dog was probably accustomed to using a pee pad or going outside at a different time then your other dog so to her she is confused and probably finds herself crated at these times she was previously accustomed to.

What I have been doing is if she goes poop or pee she stays in the kitchen. like this morning I took them out she only pooped.but she had peed in her cage that night. after eating I waited 1 hour took her out and she pooped and peeed! but i took a afternoon of to do this. I usually leave early 730am for work just enough time to take out and leave food so its touch and go. I will leave her in the crate if she does nothing from730am till 2pm when my friend comes to take them out and she walks them for at least 20 min.. I feel I can;t trust her know after the pooping near my dogs bed.She is so thin,7 pounds, maybe I feed her to much? should I just feed her in the morning like my dog? she never finishes her food. Then she eats later in the evening when we come home and then its the whole thing again. thanks, I think I;m falling for her,Rossanne

at her age and minimal time to exercise she needs but one meal a day. Miniature Pinschers who do not have a securely fenced yard and time in it to expel energy common in the breed do not eat as much. One meal a day should be enough for her. No more than 3/4 cup and monitor how much she eats at that time to determine if she needs more. Keeping in mind that as Miniature Pinschers go, she sounds like she was poorly bred ie: far undersize. She may not carry the true high energy spirit common in the breed that actually goes on til late in their senior years. Average life span 12 to 14 year though my 17 year old will still chase down a rat or mouse in the yard. She is 12" and 11lbs.
