1. His barking is driving me insane. I know Jack Russells bark, that's all there is to it. I would like to try to be able to control it some. He barks at everyone whether they live with him or not. When you come home, when you leave, when you stand up, when you greet someone. All the time. For a bit there I had him stop barking when I called him when people passed by outside, but I went away to school and all that training went out the window. I basically just want him to stop when I tell him to. I know he won't completely.

with its barking he only shows that he is overstrained with several situations in your live. He can not find out if it is necessary to do something or not. He feels himself threatend and to himself it is not clear if the owner resolve things so everything is claryfied, therefore he barks to show that he does not know in which direction life goes. Is he safe in his territory, are visitors dangerous? Can he calm down and find peace or is there a need to defend his resources?
The disposition of all resources (all things a dog needs to survive)are unexplained for your dog, an unbelievable condition.

2. Getting in the trash. I think this may be from anxiety when left alone. But he also does it when we're in bed and even in the other room. I know he needs a more stable schedule and hopefully with me starting a new job that will happen but is there anyway to get him to stop. I've read and been told to give him chew toys and or bones but he won't deal with any of those. He ignores chew toys and will carry to bone around crying or a while until he finds a place to hide it.

When a dog carries food around or is hiding food he defenately gets too much. Reduce food! Is he looking for food in the trash or is he really hiding in it? When he tries to hide in the trash then only because the human can not give the security he needs and so he is looking for himself to have a feeling of safety. Why is he alone when you are sleeping or in another romm? Take the dog with you. A dog is a high level pack member and needs the attachment to the holder.
Don't leave him alone and take him on the leash in the house as long as he is under supervision, when left alone he must be naked --> without collar and leash.

3. Final issue is him deficating and urinating in the house. I think it started about 4 years when my dad passed away, they were extremely close. My brother also used to live with us and he would go out with his dog and they would be out for hours playing. They moved out shortley after that. He started it but we didn't nip it in the but. Now its out of control. We let him out first thing in the morning during the day and at night. At times he will refuse to go out. He will even come right in go in the other room and go. He won't stay out for more than a minute either. I think the obvious solutin is get him on a regimine of walking 2 to 3 times a day until he gets used to going outside again

When a dog is shy by nature he has a good cause to do his business inside.
When he sits down he is vulnerable for enemys and he is not going to take the risk, to "play" with its survival just to go to the toilette.
Inside all the danger is left outside and so he is able to do what he needs to.
Very stressful life for your little dog. From his point of view he lives at the forward edge of the battle area and nobody to lean on.
