Default Dog have trouble with time change.

I am having a little trouble with my puppy making messes in my house (hiding them in my basement) he is a one year 8 month old black lab. Great dog love him to death he does have a heart condition. the breeder informed me about that and i knew what i was getting into when i adopted him but that is all for a different post.

Two weeks ago Wilbur and I moved from the eastern standard time zone to the central because i took a new job. The problem with this is my puppy is use to getting up around 7am to go outside and eat. Now i have to leave for work before 5am and the time zone difference its more then a couple of hours in a schedule change for him. Every morning i try to wake him up and take (carry a 75lbs dog) outside but he normally just sniffs around a little and pees but never poops. He is house broken i cant remember the last time he made a mess in the house before now. I feel like i have to do all the training i did with him again. what do you guys think?

Could it be because of the new house?
The time and schedule change?

How can i help him/me to get back on schedule?

I think this is all about the time change. His schedule has been thrown all out of whack because of the time difference. In a few days he'll adjust to the new routine. I'd just ignore any messes for the next few days. Clean the area with white vinegar. It removes the smell of urine. Take him out as soon as you get up and then again just before you leave. He will adjust given a few days to acclimatise himself.

dogs are very routine oriented and have an internal clock that they work from. Once they have a set routine, changing of time zones which we can relate to is totally different from the dog. I inherited a purebred German Pinscher from Maryland (EST), I live on the West Coast in Washington state (PST). For the first several months, this dog was barking to go out at between 3:30 and 4:00 am every morning. This has since eased to now around 5:30 to 6:00 am which only tells me we have a few more months to go before his internal clock is set for PST. I dealt with a similar situation after Katrina. A woman adopted one of the dogs that was left behind. She lives in the midwest and had difficulty understanding why the dog was up 2 hours before she wanted to be, everyday.
I explained that the dogs routine was already in place and prior owner probably arose at a certain time everyday so her dogs internal clock was set for this. She replied some months later that indeed the dog was starting to come around and sleeping later everyday. It just needed to learn a new routine. Give it time and a great deal of patience.
