We are getting ready to choose between a female and male jack russel terrier/daushaund mix puppy. Are there any important differences between the genders that might help us decide which one to pick? Thanks!

I personally prefer male dogs, though I do own both genders here at home. It is a personal decision, and I don't think is many real differences, as opposed to differences between individual dogs. Some bitches are more loving, but so are some dogs. My bitch is more protective and affectionate, my dog is more playful and fun, but I think these traits are down to their individual personalities rather than their sex. With both genders, neutering/speying is VERY important, more so with a bitch. If you are anti-neutering, get a dog.

Thanks for your response! What you said makes sense so I think we're gonna go with the boy dog-we wanted him originally but not if he was going to be harder to take care of.
