One too many problems
I just adopted 2 female bichon frise dogs, they're over a year old. I got them from my friends grandmother who never house trained them and she only spoke to them in Polish. So needless to say I'm having a difficult time with them. I knew this going into it though, but my friend only sees dollar signs when it comes to dogs and she wouldn't care if they were separated....so I took them because I love dogs, and especially this breed.
I've bought 2 crates for them, but they cry when they're in there...but I'm tired of them doing their business on my carpet. I even walk them 5-6 times a day, I don't know what to do. I went home today from work to check in on them, and the one peed in her own crate (they each have their own). I took them for a 30 minute walk last night, my one peed twice on her walk. Once we got home, she jumped on my bed and peed on it...literally 10 minutes later.
They jump like crazy when I walk in the door after work and scratch my legs pretty bad...I've started using a spray bottle on the mist setting to avoid them. I don't look, talk or pet them when I come in the house...hoping that they will back off but they don't. I have a difficult time putting them on their leash for walk because they jump, bark and move around so much.
I already have a pug and another bichon who don't do this at all...maybe its their age? When I walk all 4, my newest bichon starts barking at kids, strollers and other dogs...yet when I take them to an off leash dog park they don't make a sound and they have a great time. Why do they act like they've never seen a dog before when they're on a leash and not when they're at the dog park?
As well, the one who barks a lot "Lucy," also has it in for my cat. She chases him around the house almost knocking over my lamp and smashing it.
I realize I have a lot of work to do with these two, and I don't believe in getting rid of my animals...even though many people have suggested that I do. Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!
