Min Pin house training.
Moved in with a lady that has a 10 Month old Miniture Pincher (female). She had 2 but sold one recently. Both were paper trained and slept in a crate. Had problems with them having bowel movements where ever they wanted.
I tried taking over the training of her lately to see if I could change things with a more regular routine. I don't know much about dogs but have been reading.
Here is her schedule. In crate for nite, out for pee at 6:30, praised and given a treat (when she sits for it). Fed in house, food taken away after 15 minutes and taken back outside for poop about 20 minutes later. Same thing, praised and treat when she goes. Found we need to take her out aroung 2 P.M. for another poop. Feed at 6 to 6:30 and taken out again 20 minutes later. Only fed twice a day and food taken away.
Problem is, she will go most times...sometimes when she absolutely won't, will just poop in house right in front of you. Never whines etc to go out. Have gotten up numerous times and she has pooped in cage, (before 6:30 a.m.). We've stopped buying the cheaper food as I read it's a lot of filler and makes pups go more. Has been on expensive food for a month and no change.
Getting really frustrated. Read a dog won't poop where they sleep but both of these have and the one left still does. Have no idea what we are doing wrong and how to correct it.
Help please?
Thanks in advance to any and all replies.

hello, just wanna know, is her crate just enough to hold her comfortably in? because if it has alot of extra space, chances are, she is gonna renovate her little home turn some space to a toilet room.

Thanks for the thoughts.
Yes the crate was a bit big. I put her into a cat carrier so that she basically only has room to comfortably lie down in.
Really getting frustrated with this. House breaking shouldn't be this hard.

Unfortunately this is not correct when dealing with terriers. Miniature Pinschers are not toy dogs but in fact Terriers and as such were bred to be free thinking feral dogs, not house pets. They are one of the most difficult breeds to house train and those that are 80% house trained are considered house trained.

And IMO, when any dog has been paper-trained, they are even that much harder to housebreak. There's nothing that can be done about that now, but just some advice for the future.

True, with Terriers, the sooner they learn to go outside the better.
