Default Agility Training a Pug

Hi,

okay I know when someone thinks dog agility training it brings to mind something a bit different than a chubby little pug running through an obstacle course, but I want Harley to give it a try. She LOVES running, and darting in circles. No I don't run with her like around blocks or anything, I know that would be too demanding on her little body, but she likes to sprint short distances when we're in a grassy area. She also likes to run around the room, jumping over the bed, run across it, and then do it all over again. From what I see it seems like she'd get a kick out of an agility course. I've seen a hamster do it in a video on Youtube, so why not my pug?

I want some advice on how we can do this recreationally, like for fun. I think it would be a bonding experience for me and my dog and wanted to know how do we get started. Are there classes? I have no idea where to go from here.

I'd like to get Buster in agility too. You'd never imagine a pug or a saint bernard in agility.

That would be so strange to see such a big dog running a course, he can probably do it though haha. They should have an agility event with dogs that aren't usually seen or expected to run courses, running agility courses.

Like a Pekinese or a neopolitan mastiff?

There are classes and clubs everywhere for agility. I think it would be great for u and ur pug to do this together. It sounds like he would be good with it. The biggest qualities a dog needs to have for agility is energy and i drive to please there owners.

I would start with going online and seeing what is around u. My dog and i do agility and we just do it for fun... its her favorite thing ever. Good luck!

Go for it! A lot of places that have obedience classes also do agility classes. There's a dog park near me that has agility equipment, so you might want to check your local dog parks.

My friend has a pug and a pug mix, and they're way more active than I thought they would be! I bet you and your dog would have a lot of fun.
