Unhappy Potty training my 5 month old doberman HELP???

Looking for help on Potty training my 5 month old doberman... He knows to go when I take in outside, but if he needs to go he hides to go in the house rather then alert me he needs to go. Sometimes he will go right in front of me. it's really frustrating. Will he eventually outgrow this????

Have you told him off when you have caught him "in the act" indoors? If so that explains why he feels he has to hide. Along with following the advice above you need to supervise him thoroughly so he can not go off and hide to do his business. Restrict the area where he is allowed to be, try and keep him with you or in site of someone responsible all the time. You can not train him not to do something if he is doing it when you can't see him.

If you can not restrict the area where he is allowed you could try training him with a leash attached to your waist so that he has to follow you everywhere and he is most unlikely to toilet while he is attached to you.

Hi there, how long have you had this dog? have you been trying to house train since a young pup or you just got him?
Either way I suggest going straight back to basics, clear the slate and start fresh with him. Clean any spots where you have found pee or poo very very well so there is no trace of his smell there else wise he'll continue to go in these places. As cig said refrain from any punishment for going in the house, as hard as it might be!

Is he crate trained? If not this can be a really helpful tool for you, there is lots of info on crate training on the net and on this forum too.
Your best bet will be to have a very regimented schedule, know exactly when he has eaten and drank and how much, even write it down so you can find out exactly how long after he eats/drinks he will need to go and have him out for then. Also I don't know if he is going in the night at all but if so taking the water up about 2 hours before bedtime can help with that.
Have him go out after he has eaten or drank, after he has slept a long time and after he has a really good play session, and of course first thing in the morning as soon as he wakes up.

Once he goes outside give him praise and even a treat to reinforce the behavior.
