Neighbors Dangerous S.O.B.'s
Our neighbor has 3 male Labs (Black, Chocolate, Yellow) that are VERY aggressive. One has come after me and our old Springer that we lost in November. Their 2 former Yellow Labs did attack our late Springer twice when he was under 18 months old and left him HATING ALL DOGS for the rest of his life ( and cost me $400 in vet emerg. bills too). New young'n Springer is with us and I will not allow this again. Since the neighbor isn't going to change his ways, or dogs either, I'm now looking for a great working Ultrasonic Blaster to train these terrors with. It will be better than having to use my billy club on them if they come into our yard after our dog or us again. New fence going up this spring but they sound awful and vicous & that is scaring our new little boy (12 months old).
Any that you all have had work???
Thanks for the help.

Do you have animal control were you live? I know they sometimes are of no help what so ever but just curious as to if you have contacted them? Also did you ever consider taking them to small claims court to make them pay your vet bills? Some people unfortunately are idiots that will only get the point when it starts hurting there pockets. Are they aggressive to people or only dogs? I hate to think of what could happen if they ganged up on a child or an elderly feeble person that does not have the strength to beat them off. Sorry if I am rambling but idiots that let there aggressive dogs run loose really tick me off because they give good dog owners a bad name.

The neighbor is already way grumpy. I was thinking about training those dogs when they come out and he can't hear the high pitched noise. I will turn thing in this time to Animal control if they cross the chain link fence and get into our "space" again. Won't have the new little guy touched by any dogs as he's really sweet & passive.

Yikes! Your neighbor should count his lucky stars your so laid back about the whole thing.
I'm not familiar with any ultra sonic training devices. I think depending on the dogs temperament, it may not work. Some dogs are hardheaded & after the initial startle may not care later. I would buy mace & store them around the yard high off the ground in case you ever need them in an emergency.
Once your dog is safe with the new fence, I would teach him to ignore the dogs by making him turn his back on them & sit. It might even work to help relax the other dogs. I'm not sure how familiar you are with canine body language (and people body language in regards to dogs) but I would suggest you learn more so that it might help you understand what is going on & how best to react to certain situations. I'm surprised that a group of dogs would just attack you & your dog out of nowhere. Was there a trigger that set them off? If there wasn't then it just points to these dogs being unpredictable & dangerous. I'm not sure how you would be able to train them even with an good ultrasonic blaster. I would be cautious because you may just aggravate them more thinking you & your dog are the source of the problem. Maybe something like that would work with a more laid back dog but I'm not sure whether that's what you're dealing with?...

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
