We have a 14 week old border collie mix who is very smart. We have been house training her and it is going well. Every time we take her outside she potties on command and we know her schedule. We are also teaching her to ring a bell to go out. The only reason she is not having accidents (few) in the house is because I take her out all the time. At what age, or how long does it take a dog to understand to hold it, until she gets outside?

Thanks!

Smile Welcome to the forum!

This link should answer your question: Housebreaking a Dog or Puppy

You might find some other info also in this forum by going to the blue strip that goes across top of page(s)--find white word-Search and put house training in the search box.

What did you name your puppy? Any pics to share?

It all depends on how well you train her! If you consider that a puppy isn't able to have much control before 12 weeks as you have said, the early success is down to you. I have never used the bell for my dogs - I prefer to tell them when to go out rather than having them tell me - but now I have a dog door so they can take themselves out (and come back in again) without bothering me. But to get back to your point - I would say the training is only just beginning but with a bright dog such as yours and good training it would probably only take a couple of weeks.
