Default New tricks for a smart pup

without buying a huge set of books. some body rattle off some tricks I can teach a smart dog.

Rufus already knows the basics

sit, stay, off, down, give me five, what cha want?(soft bark with a pounce) , speak ( loud bark) , shake left and right, Dance where he stands up and twirls, carrosel where he spins in small circles, come, beg, kisses, in the van out of the van, heel... and shhhh be quiet. wait for it, fetch.

I know I need to add lay down, and roll over, I am looking for some creative stuff like put your toy away,

any ideas?;-)

I'm not interested in trick training my dogs but if you look on Youtube there are some great videos that will give you ideas - things like a whole bed time routine where the dog says its prayers (places front paws on the owner's knee and rests his head) washes his face (wipes his muzzle with his front paws) puts his toys away and then pulls a blanket over himself in his bed.

Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog it's too dark to read!

The only reason I am trick training Rufus is to keep him busy and entertained. He loves it and enjoys the play of it.

I am a clicker trainer, and I train tricks. I find trick training a great way to exercise their minds and tire them out. My dogs know so many that I would be forever listing them on here.

Do you clicker train? if not, consider starting clicker training, it's a great way to give precise information to the dog. Look up Kikopup on Youtube, she has tons of videos on how to clicker train and how to teach specific tricks.

One of my favorite things to teach my dogs is to target with their nose... it can be used for many more complicated tricks later. And also front feet on a box, again, a great beginner trick that can be used for more complicated stuff later.
