Yeah an Oprah doesn't even use him as a trainer...The trainer she uses is a positive reinforcement trainer very similar to Victoria Stillwell!!

Before we call him a fraud, have you seen him doing his actual work? Not in the TV show. But where he does his work.
Our local behaviorist is also battered by trainers with words in the same way and I can vouche for what he does

Did you know that several dogs have died under Ceasar's care? They went to stay on his property so he can "train" them and less than a week later they were dead. He also has returned dogs to their owners in even worse condition than when he got them. The owners had to have them put to sleep. This is what they don't put on the tv shows. I have a friend that works for Nat Geo and he says that Ceasar treats everyone like they are an idiot and he treats his dogs like dirt. I really don't want to hear half of the things that he says goes on behind the scenes at Nat Geo. A lot of it isn't very humane to animals.

I'd never heard that before. Where can I learn about that? I always wondered if Cesar was so harmful to dogs why previous guests hadn't come forward talking about new problems that emerged in their dogs due to Cesar. If you have a link can you post it please? Thanks in advance!

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Thanks Luna. I found two lawsuits, one where a tv show producers lab was hurt on a treadmill somehow.. And one against Cesar over rights of show or representative, something entertainment related.
I did see something about My Chemical Romance band drummer's dog dies with dog trainer. Rock Musician Files Lawsuit over Dog's Mysterious Death - My Chemical Romance, Animals & Pets, Trials & Lawsuits : People.com

I think what attracts so many dog owners to Cesar is the "quick fix" aspect of his methods on the show. We live in a "I want it all and I want it now" society, where anything that takes more than a bit of time and effort is avoided. Positive reinforcement might work, but boy does it require a heck of a lot of effort, consistency and time we busy bees just don't have....so why not do what Cesar the expert does, and have our dogs all fixed in minutes with a swift "touch" to the behind or a shock collar?
When he's on the show, explaining those "methods" and we SEEMINGLY see results with the dogs....it really appears that those methods "make sense" to a lot of people. It's those people who will argue til they're blue in the face that Cesar knows what he's talking about and the methods are golden. The wolf and the pack theory just makes sense to many people, even though many of us know better...the vast majority of the dog owners in this world are not spending hours on forums, reading training articles, researching behavior issues and behavioralists. Not to mention not all people regard their dogs as we do...there are MANY MANY folks out there who see them as nothing more than a household ornament, something to throw scraps at or ol roy and maybe teach to sit and give paw if that. Knowledge is out there, in abundance...but only if we're willing and able to go find it. Many people don't have the desire to better their relationship with their dog/s, nor to learn more than they do. So for those, Cesar provides a fast and seemingly simple approach that they can use. Unfortunately the results these folks end up with may be and often times are, disasterous.
The only good thing I see coming from his show is the message that you have to get up off your ars and DO something with your dog. Exercise them, don't baby them to death...take responsibility for your dog. But his ideas on dominance and aggression and how to fix it are scary when I think of the kind of idiots out there who will use it and tweak it to suit them and the poor dogs who are helpless to do a thing about it.
And let's not forget the pure power of advertising. We live in a society where people who should KNOW better, will go out and spend a ton of money they don't even have on some Loreal product that claims to get rid of wrinkles in two weeks...all because they see a famous actress on the screen...one who we all know has probably had facial surgery but hey, if she says Loreal works, it must right? Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson and those in the positive reinforcement circle are not being splashed over magazines, tv, commercials, and whatever other advertising they can get...so they're not as easily accessible to the world. Maybe that's what some of them need to do...out advertise Cesar..make their own show...because as long as they are just obscure bloggers on line that only dog forum and extreme fanciers will find, we don't have much out there to combat the Cesar.

I "googled" him about a year ago and was frankly shocked by what I found. I stand by my statement: The guy is nothing but a fraud and, a dangerous one at that!!! How many dogs have to die in this "so called" trainer's care before he is shut down for good?

What I dont get is why he insists on ignoring science and scientists, and continuing to train the way he does. There is a ton of science against the dominance theory/pack theory, WHY is it still so popular??? Because Cesar harps on it, even though it's WRONG.
Dogs are not wolves, dogs are nothing like Wolves, And Wolves are nothing like the pack theory suggests. Outmoded and outdated... time for a new theory Cesar.

That's exactly why he doesn't research it...he would have to admit his theories are outdated and wrong!!

He took the dog's tail from between his legs because he says it creates fear. The dogs tail is there because he is already fearful. This dude is an idiot. He is taking away a dog's warning system.

Not to mention he tries to convince the owners the dog is staying on it's side because he's been successful at getting the dog to relax when in reality the dog is simply afraid and exhausted!!

I watched both, the imprisoned dog, I don't know of any dog that is suppose to be relaxed and has their eyes bulgeing out of their head. and the kicking, maybe Cesar would like a few kicks to the groin area.

Aggh I really hate the kicking. The more I focus on his downfalls the more I think the pro's just don't out weigh the good I see from his shows.
Serious question for anyone who actually watches the show, is he using less physical corrections like these more recently? I don't have cable so the shows I watch are dictated by what I can find online. I thought I had noticed he did less of the kicking but I would need to watch again. Anyone watch presently? Is he changing?

I quit watching his shows but you can find his latest on youtube. He hasn't stopped holding a dog up by his collar and leash and cutting off it's air though.
