Default Happy to pee outside but poo inside

Hi, Brodie is just over 10 weeks and has settled in well. He does pee outside in the grass bit of our garden but does the poo inside. He is very playful outside and as it is getting cold we dont like to keep the little Dashhound outsied until he does the poo.

Are we expecting too much from him?

Thanks

yes. It takes a while for a puppy to be house trained. 10 weeks old in like 6 months to a child. You won't expect your 6 month old child to be potty trained. It can take up to 6 months to train your little guy. The next time you go out, grab a book and a comfy chair and don't come back in until your dog has pooed outside. When he poos outside, make the biggest deal you can about it. Make the neighbors think you've gone insane. Act like he saved the world or something to that effect. Give him treats and lovins. But make sure you ignore him until he goes. It isn't play time when you take him out to go. Play comes after he goes poo outside. If he doesn't poo outside, bring him in and stick him directly in his crate. When he goes poo outside, he can have free time out of his crate to play. If he doesn't he goes right back in his crate.

Just have a bit more patience. 10 weeks is still very young.
If I remember correctly, you said that Brodie was a Dachshund?
A small dog, I've been told can sometimes take a bit longer to house train.

Lots of praise, love, patience and throw in some treats and you have a receipe for success.
All the best.
