Default Potty training my new puppy!

I just got a new puppy a couple days ago and hes about 8 weeks old. Im moveing into a apartment on Friday and I can take him, but I need to figure out how to potty train him. Right now im taking him outside like every hour and its very annoying. Does anybody know any good potty training ideas for a house dog?

There is loads of Aids that you can get to help you with this.

For Example a nappy mat basicaly its like a mat but its like a nappy :P

Just place it some where were you want your pup to do its doings, probably under a window so it doesnt stink out.

And basically when you think he needs to just pop him on it and let him do his buisness.

Then after a while start trying to direct him to it instead of putting him on it.

Theres a start then its trying to wein him off it and letting you know he wants to go.

My dog follows me around when she wants to go out.

Hope that bit of info helped

Default LitterTraining

Hi,

I would suggest litter training for your pup.

Check out this page:

Litter Training. A great way to 'Eliminate' Accidents.

I don't know...doing it that way inside the house seems to be worse in the long run as he is getting the idea that its OK to go someplace in the house. With a young Puppy you just have to suck it up the first few weeks going outside every hour or two, even in the middle of the night...I think you are doing it right and he will learn quickly and then you will be done. He will then know it is not OK to go ANYWHERE in the house...

This book helped me immensely when all seemed hopeless for my basset hound: http://shortenurl.com/dogtraining101 I had tried several books specializing in training basset hounds, as they are very dificult to train, however none of them worked. But the one listed in my sig changed everything.

Talking

I was about to post a thread on this but its related so I can ask here..I have been researching the litter training..which is ideal for me since he'll be by himself for a few hours everyday

I was going to confine him to one small room while we're away..and possibly at night to get him used to going in the litter box..

the room isnt big (the laundry room) but is ideal cuz it has 2 doors ..I was wondering if for the first couple weeks if I should make the space smaller so he gets used to going in the box (Ive heard too much space is not good)

also how long should I keep him in the room at night for..i ask this cuz the laundry room is in the basement and I dont want to leave him alone at night for too many weeks..

iam very new on training a puppy (my parents trained the last one)
and I just want to make sure Iam doing the best for the little guy (without too many accidents

hell if it was up to me he'd sleep in my bed with me the first night!! lol..but I probably wouldnt be gettin up with him to pee and he wouldnt know where to go!

or could I try that and see if he cries if he has to go and then I can take him!?

sorry for the novel I guess I should have put this someowhere else! LOL
