I have a 16 month old miniature pincher. He has been housebroken for over one year, no mistakes at all in our home. When we visit friends homes that have dogs of their own he always pees somewhere in their home. Today it was after a three mile hike where he ran free and peed his head off. It is NOT because he had to go. He usually pees right in front of my friends and I. He had been in the house playing nicely for about 15-20 minutes when he walked over and peed on her silk rug! I suspect this is some kind of dog communication- a dominance issue maybe, but I have no clue how to stop it. Someone please help as this friend was going to keep the dog while we were gone on vacation in June!
