Default My newf problem

Hey all, after searching google for resolutions to my problem I decided to register on the forum!

Anyways, I got a newfoundland pup yesterday. Shes about 2 months old and I left her outside in her new shed but she was whining for hours and barking so after a few hours I went outside and brought her inside then slept with her in my bedroom (to keep her quiet)

Well, I don't want to do this everynight and I'm going to France next week! But is there anyway to overcome this? I guess its because of a number of things, she left her family, worming medicine etc.

She seems to be nocturnal lol, Right now shes dosing below me. Maybe she sleeps too much in the daytime and as a result she has too much energy in the evening?

Cheers, Jay.

Welcome and congrats on the new babie.
Puppies sleep alot. They say a sleeping puppy is a growing puppy.
As for the whinning,I would cry to if you left me out side, dogs are pack animals and need to be with the pack.I think if you were going to go on vacation so soon after getting a puppy ,you should have waited till you got home to get one.Not fair to the puppy to just leave it so soon.
The only way to get past the whining is to ignore it.We have already taken a step backwards ,because you broke down and got the puppy,so now it will take longer to brake this habit.

Ah cheers for the informative reply

Yeah I know I shouldn't have went out and got her when she was crying, but it was heartbreaking (leaving her alone in the dark).

Its ok though, cause when im on hols next week my family will take care of the dog (its just me and my father going).

Further advice is very much appreciated, need all the help I can get

Hey come on; you cant be that harsh to a puppy, I think what you did is right. And after all its a puppy. Just because you would want your son to learn to sleep in his bedroom when he grows up will you leave your baby away from you. Then why the discrimination with this pup.
Over time it will learn and adapt to the ways you want him to live as.
And as far as going to France is concerned, I think you should make the pup relate to your family esp the people that are going to take care of him in your absense. This can be done by allowing them to feed it as this promotes bonding. And then lets hope everything turns out to be fine.

Even my dog used to whine when left alone and only slept in my bed along with me. But after a few months when I used to make an angry face and told it to leave my bed he promptly used to respond. Then I started directing him to regularly sleep at the same place. And now he peacefully sleeps there only.
So I hope all this relieves you and solves your new problem:mrgreen:
