Hi everybody! My name is Elliot and I am from the Upper West Side of New York City where I live with my wife of a year and dog of 2 years, Lucy. We live right near Central Park and spend most mornings there while Lucy plays with her friends. Lucy is a 25 lb puggle and is the sweetest most energetic dog I know.

My company launched a dog walker website recently on DogWalker.com and I would love any feedback if you have some.

Looking forward to chatting!

Jasmine,

I found the courage to call back Pegasus Laboratories yesterday. The memories of your last 57 days with us came flooding back. The grief we have been suffering since 09-04-09 manifested itself once more for I had to speak your name out loud once again. The guilt I carry for giving you this medicine runs deep.
I knew what they would say," ProIn did not contribute to her death. There is no documented research that indicates ProIn neither does any harm nor kills.... It only stays in the system for 4 hours... We are pet lovers.......We can hear how much you cared for Jasmine.... (I firmly believe all this was a script she was reading). We treat all information from pet owners seriously....You sent no medical records for Jasmine when you changed Doctors. What did he say about ProIn? (Nothing, he was not going to discredit a fellow Doctor but he did bring out his Plum reference book and showed me where she should never have been given Diatro {Lomotil} for diarrhea). He did his very best to make her last days comfortable. Took her off all the meds, gave her pepto bismol to stop her diarrhea. And then I told her, we're not here to discuss the 'other vet'.
This scripted phone conversation went on for about 15 more minutes and then I was asked if I had anything further to say. Yes, as the manufacturer of this drug, you must make Vets better informed of adverse reactions to ProIn. Help make it mandatory that Vets tell us about adverse reactions. Allow us the right to make informed decisions about our pets health care.
We hear your voice...We hear Jasmine's voice...You sent your information to the Board of Directors and I have passed it along to them....

I never expected them to say "Yes we agree. We killed her." I did expect, 'We'll research this drug further..."

She sounded like I was the only person who ever complained to them about this drug? Was she telling me that no one else had ever told them that ProIn kills? Has no one else had the courage to do this?

As I have quoted from the FDA website in all my recent posts: “If you do not file a complaint with the FDA...you're giving the manufacturer ammunition to use against you. They can claim there are so few cases of adverse reactions... nothing needs to be done. When you don't file, you stack the statistics in the manufacturers favor. Don't depend on your vet's office."

It’s never too late to do this. I really have never been the type of individual who complains but this drug, ProIn, helped kill my beloved Jasmine. I will not rest.

My babies are an american bulldog boy (Niko) and a pitbull mix girl (Jasmine), and right around the corner are my mom's babies: 2 dobermans, one show boy and one rescued girl.

I've grown up always having dogs, my mom has bred white german shepards and dobermans in my youth, and we've also had many pound puppies. Although I appreciate show dogs, and my family has bred, I advocate rescuing. There are too many animals out there in need of a wonderful home for me to not rescue one, so I rescued 2!

These 2 are my first bullies and I've fell in love! I don't think I will ever go back to other breeds, I'm a bully lover for life!

This is my dog, Jazz.

This is my dog, Jazz.

I found her as a pup, skinny, muddy little thing. The runt of a farm rescue. The other pups, older than her, were pushing her into a hole and trying to bury her alive. I took her home, gave her a bath, fed and cared for her. She was a clumsy pup, but this clumsiness never went away.

She was about 10 months old when I took her to the farm. She couldn't balance on the four wheel motorbike or ride on the back of the ute.

But still nothing twigged.

I finally took her to the vets when she started to hit both sides of the door frame when attempting to walk through. When she slipped and fell over on the floor. When she couldn't get in and out of the car. When she couldn't go up and especially down stairs, or even the single step in my house. When she would stay on the ground after falling over as if she had given up.

The vets referred me to a neurological specialist whom late diagnosed her with cerebellar abiotrophy and told me Jazz would get worse.

Cerebellar Abiotrophy (similar to ataxia, atrophy, hyperplasia) is a degenerative neurological condition which attacks brain cells in the cerebellum. It is believed to be genetic as a result of possibly in-breeding and/or breeding carrier bitches which do not show clinical symptoms. CA can act fast or slow. It affects a dog's coordination, balance, depth perception, stance and motor skills.

That was just over a year ago. She is now 2 and a half and still loving life. As happy as she can be. She is in no pain .... but must have a lot of bruises.

I have posted two videos of her, one from 12 months ago, and one from last month. Watch the first one first then second, to get an idea of the degenerative nature of this sad disorder.

It just goes to show that no matter what disability a dog has, whether it be amputation, lameness or even neurological disorders like my red cloud kelpie Jazz, if he/she has a caring, loving, devoted family, they can live their lives to the fullest when others would simply put them down.

She now wears a doggy concussion helmet (hand made out of foam rubber after many prototypes). She wears this stylish helmet when she gets excited because her condition is at its worst when she is excited or has just woken up from sleep. I shall post a photo of her wearing her custom made helmet when I get the chance.

Thanks for reading and watching :)

Hi, my dog is sick and we can't figure out what's wrong. The vet doesn't think it was poison. He wasn't running a fever yesterday, he was vomiting green stuff, not eating or drinking water. He just lays down and doesn't want to get up. The vet thought he might have an intestinal blockage. He does eat rocks sometimes. Has anyone had this happen to their dog before. He is so sad and totally not acting like himself.

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum, but not to forums in general! The site looks great, and I already have a question...

So what's it like here? :D

The last forum I belonged to just isn't giving me that feeling anymore... I used to be very addicted, I learned a lot, and even felt I made a few friends.

Nowadays I've felt the need to defend myself more than anything... There's an excessive amount of members that radiated cocky-behavior, and "I'm-better-and-know-more-than-you"-attitude... There were "clicks" of members that would defend not only each other, but snuff out any claims against the forum and it's members...

Soooooo... I'm really just looking for a new forum where it doesn't feel like I'm in the middle of a soap-opera...

This is after all the "internet", and you'll have "know-it-all's" everywhere, but I'm just hoping to find a friendly forum where more people get along, then those that don't.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone! 8)

How is everyone here?

Just thought I would start an acct on these fourms an say hey, and share a new dog.

I just adopted a dog from the Humane Society yesterday. She is a Shepard Mix. Anyone have any guesses on what she is mixed with? I am thinking Golden Retriever possibly?

I am attaching a few pics of her. She also has to be an outside dog so got to try and make her comfortable. I just bought a new x-large igloo doghouse last night at petsmart.

Feeding her Science Diet as reccomended by the humane society also.

She went in the house last night right after I got it and stood up awhile and wouldnt come out, finnaly laid down.

Anyone have ideas to help her adjust to a new home? And she may have been an inside dog wheverever her previous home was. So trying to get her adjusted to being outside day and night.

She will get to ride inside the truck at times when I take her to hikes, dog events, vets.

Anyways give me any advice you have.

This morning I gave her somemore food/water and took her on maybe a one mile walk. She walks well on the leash but tries to pull ahead but minds. She does know the command sit. So she is smart already but sure she is scared.

Everytime I go out there she tries to bark (i know she wants attention) And she was shaking bad also. I am thinking she is just nervous about a new home not outside and it being cold.

Anyone think she will adjust alot more in 2 weeks.

Thanks and Have Fun,
-Rick

Also last night after she ate her food. I went out there an looked and the pan/bucket I had it in was chewed up all around the top edge (just plastic).

I did give her a dog bone last night and this morning a rubber balll although she may have chewed it up already since its air filled.

Hey there, found this forum trying to find info on a new breed of dog, a mix between a Chihuahua and a Welsh Corgi (AKA Chigi). If you know of any information on this breed, please send it my way. Otherwise, maybe during her growth I will write out the behaviors and training tips for the breed

Anyways, glad to be here, and looking forward to making some new friends along the way!

Hello everyone.

Last month my boyfriend and I adopted our first dog from a local rescue. Her name is Zaida which is an African word for fortunate - her foster family thought it was suiting, and we agree. Zaida is just over 2 years old and is a joyful ball of energy. We are unsure of her exact breeds as of yet, but the rescue speculated that Zaida is a cross between a whippet and a basenji. We learn new things about her each day, and hope to find out more.

We think a forum like this is an excellent place to help us become a happy and cohesive family. :-D
