Default How to stop my dog barking at passer-bys?

Hi everybody,
my dog is very good - kind, smart, affectionate sheltie .. one drawback I am working on, is she barks at passer-bys. It's rather annoying. We live on the 2nd floor of the 3 story building. If she sees somebody walking down the stairs from the 3rd floor she is barking at him, and if she is not on the leash she will jump on this person. Needless to say he is not happy. LOLLL

How can I stop her?
Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the board! You might want to post this problem in the "Dog Behavior" section. More people will be able to help if you post there.

Laura0681, you are not alone. I have a very lovely dog with the same problem. He barks at guys passing by our house. He never barks at girls. I don't know why. I think he is just trying to protect our house but at times it gets disturbing.

I will be following this thread.

Welcome to the forum! My dog has the same issue. Seems we have very rambunctious doggies.

Welcome to the forum! I am lucky because even though I have neighbors on each side of me... I cannot see any of them or the road so this isn't a problem. It is always a warning sign that someone is coming up the road or someone is here when they bark.

I'm lucky enough of having a well-behave dog. Based from my own experience, the best way to prevent dog behavior problems train your dog early. The best age to start is approximately 12 weeks of age. There is no end it’s a lifelong journey. Kind of like our own education, we learn new things daily. By training your dog good behavior, you will soon have a reasonable household and a happier dog as well.

Default Nose is not cold

I've been always wondering ... I know if the dog's nose is cold it means she feels good and healthy. But if her nose is hot what exactly does it mean - she doesn't feel good??? Then in an hour or so it's cold again.

Can you guys explain to me please? :-D
Thanks a lot everybody!

Laura.
