Default Puppies on the way....mom too thin

Hey all, I am new here and brought here by a need. I have a dog expecting a litter Wed. Oct. 4th. She is very thin, not eating real well, and that worries me. She had a litter before and lost a lot of weight when she was pregnant and nursing. I tries everything to feed her, but she is sooooooo fussy about food!! After the pups were weaned, she gained nicely and had plenty of fat!
Does anyone have a solution for a dog that is sooo picky with food??? How do I get her to eat?? She is a Shih Tzu if that helps. I have offered her ham, oatmeal, raw egg, cooked egg, beef bologna, all mixed with her nutro lamb meal and rice formula puppy food, mixed with a little warm water to make a gravy! Each one separately to add variety of course.
She would only eat a little and then walk away!!
Any suggestions?? Please tell me your story if you have one similar!
Thanks, Rosebudtwin

Rosebudtwin, When my bitch gave birth she stopped eating, but I knew that she had to eat three times her normal to feed her puppies. She is a Chihuahua. I was also told that if she did not eat a little alciu she had the possibility of having a seizure. True??? I din't know but didn't want to take a chance. She was very picky. So I bought cooked chickens from the grocery store (they seemed to taste better then mine) and I took all the fat off, chopped it up into small pieces and mixed chicken into her kibble that I soaked a llittle. I also gave her cottage cheese on the side. She loved the cottage cheese, but only while she nursed. She won't eat it otherwise. I have ten Chihuahuas and beleve me they can be the pickiest of eaters. Try the cooked chicken from the grocery store...or Costco. Something about their seasoning and smell. Get her to eat. God Bless.

Was wondering if you have puppies yet and if so, how are they and the mom doing?
