Some dog advice
Hi,
My name is david.
My partner and I are absolute dog lovers and have finally bought a house so we are able to get our first dog together.
We would just like to know if there are any websites that anyone recommends that we could look at to help make our decisions easier and also to get the dog best suited to us.
So if you could please send us your favourite dog websites to have a look at we would really appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Dave and Kel

Hi there and good for you for researching this very important decision. So many folks just get a pooch that looks "cute" without taking the time to research. The following sites might be helpful for you. The American Kennel Club lists all the breeds and discusses the temperment and background of each breed (Herding, hunting, companionship etc). The next site gives you a little quiz to take that helps you start to define what you want in a dog. The third site has even more information, including whether a puppy or an adult dog is better for you. I am sure that there are a lot more. I got both of my dogs from rescues and they are the best dogs I have ever had. I cannot advocate strongly enough for rescues as most will temperment test the dogs, spay/neuter them if necessary, and bring them up to date with vaccinations and take care of other health issues. If a health problem is a chronic one, they let you know. Anyway Good luck on your adventure to finding your perfect pet.

Eukanuba has a breed selector that might be able to give you some ideas and it will also give you lots of info about the breeds. I can't post links, but its right on their home page, bottom row of tabs.
Good Luck!

It depends on your interest in dogs and if you have a land to run your dog free safely. Do you live in a crowded area? If not, and if you are a hunter, I would recommend my favorite breed is the West Siberian Laika: http://www.laikabreeds.multiservers.com/
Laika can live outside a year around and he would not mind to stay inside for some time. Do you have bears wandering in nearby woods? Laika is the best bear warning and protection dog.
