Default Puppy in Training

Hi,
I have a Cavalier Prince Charles male puppy 10 weeks old. Does anybody have tips on crating and potty training. Is the last few days. Even with him being taken outside to do his buisness. He shortly does more buisness on the inside of the house. Many sleepless nights.

Thanks,
Ray Salcido

This breed of dog is active and sportive. They are intelligent enough to understand what you want and therefore are usually easy to train and respond well to gentle obedience training. Take a look of this site. It may help you in training your puppy.

Give him more time. Dogs are not potty trained in a day, and they're not even COMPLETELY reliable until they're about a year. Don't get me wrong, you won't have the ammount of accidents you're having now, but it will get less and less, and then he will get more and more reliable.

As for crate training, just make sure that it's not too big, and not too small. He should be able to stand up and turn around, so just make it a bit bigger than what he can do that in. Try feeding him a couple meals in there, make sure he has toys, and don't leave him in too long. at first, leave him for a couple minutes, then come back and take him out. Don't make a big deal about taking him out, (ie, saying "oooh, poor baby had to be in the crate. Is my baby OK?") it will make him think that the crate is a bad thing. Slowly build up the time that he's in there, and soon he'll be going in by himself.
