Hi everybody, I am a retired zoologist. Currently, my wife and I live on the farm in Virginia. My favorite breed is the West Siberian Laika. I have a long standing interest in aboriginal breeds of dogs. Aboriginal breeds are very old and they were found in every part of the world with native people. Many of them became extinct, some became designated as purebreds and a few still survive in remote from industrial centers parts of the world. West Siberian Laika is one of this kind of dogs; it became a purebred only recently, but this type of dogs are among oldest in the world; they existed hundreds of years before dog shows came into fashion.
