Hounds Keeper is on a distinguished road
Talking Mom to 2 Hounds

We have a 1 year old Beagle named Fin who is the best dog ever, so sweet and loving. Unfortunately beagles are pack dogs and Fin suffered from terrible seperation anxiety so we decided to adopt another hound, Joey a 3 year old Bluetick Coonhound. We've had Joey for about 3 days but he's already a welcome member of our family. The best part is he's already perfectly trained so we don't have to do much. Hopefully those good manners will rub off on Fin, who didn't quite grasp his training. Fin loves playing with him and picking on him, but Joey just takes it all in stride considering he outweighs Fin by about 50 lbs. They both love to bay (howl) at eachother but usually quiet down when we tell them. Most people find their bark annoying or disruptive but I love it. When Fin "talks" he sounds just like Chewbacca, its so cute. We have managed to master the howl ourselves and try to have in depth conversations with them, only to get that 'you're crazy' look with their heads cocked to the side. Joey has been such a nice addition to the mix and we hope to add another hound to our pack someday. Right now, the 2 boys are fine. My digital camera recently broke and hopefully I am getting a new one for Christmas and I will be able to post some pictures. Arrroooo to all the other dogs out there and their owners!

Yeah, I'd say if it howls then it must be a hound. Their voices are so distinctive!!
